Overwatch to become Overwatch 2 when sequel releases

More details have come out about Overwatch 2, which will be free-to-play and will be available on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, on October 4.

Kotaku says that the sequel will make the first game useless because it will replace it completely and make it impossible to play. Everything from the first Overwatch game, like your progress, items, loot, money, and so on, will be carried over to the second game. Here’s what the game’s director told fans during a Reddit thread called “Ask Me Anything.”

Aaron Keller, who is in charge of Overwatch 2

“Early Access” means that this is just the beginning of a lot of new things coming to the game, Keller said. “When we launch, there will be new heroes, maps, and features, but every nine weeks, there will be even more.

We just put out a plan for some of this content, which says that there will be a new hero in Seasons 1 and 2, and a new map in Season 2. Also, as part of the live service, bigger parts of the game that have always been part of the plan for OW2 will be added. For example, the PvE campaign will start next year. When OW2 comes out on October 4, it will replace the Live Service we have now.”

About Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 is the highly anticipated sequel that takes players deeper into the world and story of Overwatch. It builds on the critically acclaimed PvP combat of the first game.

In Overwatch 2, players take on the roles of the world’s heroes in cooperative missions that require them to work together, empower each other, and stand together against an overwhelming number of threats around the world. In the next step of competitive Overwatch gameplay, players will compete against each other. This builds on the achievements and loot collections of current players and adds a new generation of heroes, new maps that are known all over the world and make the world bigger, a new type of Push map, and more.

In the action-packed cooperative Story Missions, Winston, Tracer, and other members of the original Overwatch join forces with a new group of heroes. Through a series of intense four-player missions, players will be an active part of the Overwatch story as a new global crisis develops. As the story goes on, players will take on the roles of different heroes and work together to protect the world from Null Sector’s omnic forces. They will also learn why the robot armies are attacking and face more and more new threats.

Hero Missions is where the battle continues. The Overwatch team will have to go beyond their limits as they move around the planet, defending cities from robot invasions, fighting elite Talon agents, and fighting rogue states that are trying to take over the world. In this mode, which can be played over and over again, players can level up their favorite heroes and earn powerful customization options that boost their abilities in co-op. For example, Reinhardt’s Fire Strike can be changed so that it burns enemies nearby, and Tracer’s Pulse Bomb can be changed so that it starts a chain reaction that does a lot of damage.

Overwatch 2 also marks the start of a new era for the world-famous competitive 6v6 game in the series. The sequel keeps all of the original game’s heroes, maps, and modes, as well as player achievements and collections. It also adds several new playable heroes to the ever-growing roster, adds even more maps and locations to the world, and adds a new map type called “Push,” in which two teams compete to have a robot, which is very good at pushing things, push the target to the side of the opponent.
