Paper Mario: The Origami King – Japanese Website, Battle System Trailer, Story Details and More

The official Japanese website for Paper Mario: The Origami King has opened, revealing a more interesting details.

Story of Origami King

Firstly, the website contains a lengthy summary about the plot of the game, which was only hinted at in the trailer.

Mario and Luigi receive an invitation from Princess Peach for the Origami Festival. The pair arrive at Toad Town in high spirits….but what happened? There’s no one around. Thinking that something is off, Mario heads to Peach’s Castle.

There he runs into Peach…who has been turned into origami! An origami figure appears and introduced itself to a shocked Mario. “I am the king of Origami Land! King Ori!” King Ori wants to fold Mario’s friend and change the world to create the Origami Kingdom.

When he announces that, huge tape came out of nowhere and connected Peach’s Castle to the top of a far mountain. Mario teams up with King Ori’s younger sister, Oribia, and even sometimes receiving help from Bowser’s minions.

In order to stop King Ori’s plans, they head towards Peach’s Castle.

Battle System

The Japanese site also contains a trailer for the game’s battle system.

Battles in Origami King will take place on a circular stage, with enemies occupying different “rings”. Players will have the ability to rotate the rings in order to line up enemies for attacks.

Personally I like this approach as it will lead to some creative battles for sure.
