Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl – 13.97 million in sales

Many gamers are loving Pokémon Legends: Arceus right now, and it’s a follow-up to the Gen 4 remakes for many of them.

To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the DS games, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were released late last year. The Pokémon Company, as usual, was able to profit handsomely from nostalgia. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl sales are just short of 14 million, according to the latest Nintendo investor report.

Sales of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl

The most recent sales data is from October 1 through December 31, 2021. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl sold 13.97 million copies within that time period. They’ve very probably surpassed 14 million with the additional month since then. They are barely behind the Let’s Go games, which have sold a total of 14.33 million copies since their release in 2018. With 23.90 million copies sold, Pokémon Sword and Shield has a far more comfortable lead.

Other Pokémon games sales numbers

  • 12.00 million copies of Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green
  • 12.72 million people have purchased Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
  • 14.46 million for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
  • 14.33 million for Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee.

Most popular Nintendo Switch games sell well beyond their first release, thus sales of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are likely to exceed 15 million by the end of this year. That would make them the all-time best-selling Pokémon remakes.

And while that is great and all, they where the baddest Pokemon games of recent years when you ask me, I even find them to be worse than the original DS versions.
