A new update for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl has been released, bringing the remakes to version 1.1.2. The official patch notes don’t say much. All Nintendo says is that they “fixed some issues that would prevent the game from progressing under certain circumstances” and that “some issues have also been fixed for more pleasant gameplay”.
Likely fixed in version 1.1.2
- Previously, you could be”softlocked” from progressing after reaching Snowpoint Gym. If you moved incorrectly, you could be stuck, unable to complete the gym.
- The bug that allowed you to surf on land to get the Mythical Pokemon Shaymin early is patched out.
- Multiple duplication glitches that allowed you to clone Pokemon has been patched out. Some of these involved menus, another involved the Daycare. The glitch allowing for duplicate items may still be intact.
- It has been reported by players on r/PokeLeaks that duplicated Pokemon will remain within your game after updating to this version.

Before you set off on your journey, you’ll choose Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup to be your first partner Pokémon.
Turtwig
TYPE:GRASS
Made from soil, the shell on its back hardens when it drinks water. It lives along lakes.
It undertakes photosynthesis within its body, making oxygen. The leaf on its head wilts if the Pokémon is thirsty.
Chimchar
TYPE:FIRE
It agilely scales sheer cliffs to live atop craggy mountains. Its fire is put out when it sleeps.
Its fiery rear end is fueled by gas made in its belly. Even rain can’t extinguish the fire.
Piplup
TYPE:WATER
Because it is very proud, it hates accepting food from people. Its thick down guards it from cold.
It lives along the shore in northern countries. A skilled swimmer, it dives for over 10 minutes while hunting.
Become the Champion
As you travel across Sinnoh filling out your Pokédex, you’ll challenge the strongest Pokémon Trainers in each town: the Gym Leaders.
Defeat Gym Leaders to receive Gym Badges as proof of your victories. Collect all eight Gym Badges to compete in the Pokémon League, where the highest-level Trainers—the Elite Four and the Champion—await.
Win your way through the Pokémon League to earn the title given to only the strongest Pokémon Trainer: Champion!
