Pokemon Scarlet/Violet – Poison Tera Type Greninja is the next 7-Star Tera Raid

The Pokemon Company has made the identity of the featured participant in the upcoming 7-Star Raid Event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet public knowledge.

Greninja, the Water-Type starting Pokémon featured in Pokemon X and Y, is the one and only target of this raid. Greninja is quite popular. It was previously stated that it will have a Poison Tera-Type, and its event would take place from the 27th to the 29th of January, with a second run taking place from the 10th to the 12th of February.

About Greninja

Greninja is a bipedal, frog-like Pokémon. It has a yellow breast, a white triangular marking above each eye, a light blue four-pointed star on each leg, and yellow on the bottom part of its face. The majority of its body is dark blue. It has red eyes with white pupils, and its mouth is covered by a huge pink tongue that loops around its neck and protrudes out behind its head. Its eyes are red, and its pupils are white. It has an extension that looks like a fin running down the center of its head, and there is another fin-like extension on either side of its head. The head fins are connected by webbing that is light blue in color. On both the elbows and knees, there is a huge bulge that resembles a white bubble. It has three toes on each of its front foot, but only two on each of its rear feet. Each finger is tipped with a bulbous protuberance and possesses yellow webbing.

Greninja is able to maneuver with the dexterity and swiftness of a ninja. It slashes its foes to pieces with weapons formed of compressed water, most typically in the shape of throwing stars, while using its rapid movements to throw off its opponents’ guard and confuse them. These star-shaped projectiles are so sharp that they can cut through metal. The Mat Block was the Pokémon’s trademark move in Generation VI. The Water Shuriken is this Pokémon’s trademark move in Generation IX.

The Greninja that Ash uses in the anime and any Greninja in Generation VII with the ability Battle Bond have the potential to undergo a metamorphosis known as Bond Phenomenon, which allows them to turn into an alternative form known as Ash-Greninja. In this form, Greninja’s skin takes on a paler shade of blue, its face develops red stripes, and its cheeks and side fins become black and change shape to mimic Ash’s hair. Additionally, its body becomes a lighter shade of blue overall. In this form, its legs become much more powerful, and it also has the ability to produce huge Water Shurikens on its back.

As was the case with obtaining Charizard and Cinderace before it, this will be the only valid method available for acquiring Greninja in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, at least until the Pokemon HOME compatibility update is released later on this year. Players that are successful in completing the raid will only be able to capture Greninja once, but they have the option to continue completing the raid in order to earn additional prizes.
