The problem “appears to have harmed a limited number of users, but it could potentially strike everyone,” according to Kotaku. Yet, the fact that no one is able to identify the source of the issue is perhaps the most frustrating aspect of the situation.
There have been reports from players that their save games have been deleted for a number of reasons. Among them include synchronizing with Pokemon GO and downloading downloadable content. Another gamer reports that after purchasing the downloadable content, all of their shiny items were removed from their inventory. As if all of that weren’t enough, another user managed to do all of the above and send many postcards using Pokemon GO connection before their save file became damaged.
A person on Reddit who has experienced the issue has reported that their copy is still playable after they have made a new Switch profile. They did this because they were concerned that their original file might be lost if they played on their initial profile, so they created the new profile. The Pokémon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet games are now incapable of reading the corrupted save file. Even trying to employ the save recovery procedure hadn’t resulted in a successful outcome.
A number of Nintendo fans have been in touch with Nintendo’s customer care in the hopes of receiving information regarding a potential fix, but things haven’t moved very quickly. According to a rumor on Reddit, one of the representatives allegedly advised that players move Pokémon from their damaged save to Pokemon Home whenever the feature becomes available.
