Pokemon Scarlet/Violet – Wiglett a Diglett-like Pokemon

The official Scarlet and Violet website has also added Wiglett to its list of Pokémon. The site says that Wiglett has “an exceptional sense of smell.” It is also shy and no one knows what the rest of its body looks like or how long it might be because it is buried in the sand.

About Wiglett

Wiglett, which looks suspiciously like Diglett, is a new Pokémon that will be in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The announcement was made during a planned live conference call with Pokémon professors from all over the world at the World Pokémon Ecological Society.

Different clips of Pokémon from the Paldea region are shown to the researchers, which includes you.

Zoe and Ian talk about six new things we learned about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. You can let the site use your camera and microphone if you want to, and there are surveys you can “take part” in to help decide which part of Paldea to study next. The video shows a lot of the Pokémon of Paldea, including the new and poisonous Wooper, which is only found in that area.

The researchers’ last stop on Paldea was the beach, where they saw a strange Pokémon just hanging out in the sand. It looks a lot like Diglett, but the colors are different, so they think they may have found a new regional variant. That is, until the things start to come out.

Wiglets in the sand

When the Pokémon comes out of the sand, the scientists decide that this must be a new species and call it a Wiglett. Like a worm Diglett, I guess?

I will call you Wiglett.

The person in charge of the research call tells what else is known about Wiglett. “Even though they looked like the Paldean form of Diglett, we’ve learned that they live and eat differently, as if they were completely different Pokémon,” her notes seemed to say. According to research that has already been done on Paldea, it is “just a coincidence that [Diglett and Wiglett] both burrow in the ground and sand and have bodies that look alike.”
