About Rogue Legacy 2

Rogue Legacy 2 is a rogue-LITE about family trees. That means it has all the features of a typical rogue-like, like random runs, changing characters, and so on, but upgrades and dead heirs stay the same. In this game, you are known by your past. Spend the money you got from your parents and grow the family manor to give your kids a better chance in life. Each child is different and has their own skills and traits. She could become a Ranger. She might also not eat meat. Every time is a new adventure. You can also play Rogue Legacy 2 how you want to. Go hard and fast and dive deeper into a world that was made by chance. Or, do things slowly and steadily to build your character until you are ready to take on bigger challenges.

Every Adventure is Unique

Every time you go into the Kingdom, you will find new monsters, new traps, and new ways to move around. In this world, it’s more important to be able to think on your feet than to remember things.

Totally New Courses

No two classes have the same abilities. As the Ranger, you can hide on Ivy Canopies and rain poisoned arrows down on your enemies. As a Dragon Lancer, you can take to the air and fly across the sky, hitting enemies at very high speeds. Or, as the happy bard, sing and dance through your enemies, leaving only a trail of dead bodies in your wake. Rogue Legacy 2 has 15 new classes, and each one has a different way to play.

A brand-new look

We’re making Rogue Legacy 2 look and feel very different. The style of the sequel is 2.5D, with 3D characters in front of hand-drawn backgrounds. To keep the look and feel of real life, the art has a lot of shading, and all the animations are made by stepping.

Biome Generation Was Changed

We did everything we could with biome generation to make sure that every place in RL2 felt different. Each biome uses a different “build strategy” to make regions that are completely different from each other but still randomly generated.

True Metroidvania

To make RL2 feel even more like a metroidvania, it adds heirlooms, which are special items that give your heroes permanent new skills that fully reveal the secrets of the world. These aren’t simple “lock-in” skills, but rather powers that change the way you play in a big way. And you don’t just get an heirloom when someone dies. You have to show what you’re worth, if you can find them.

Characteristics 2.0

Even though the traits in RL1 were fun at first, they often lost their appeal as the game went on. Gold modifiers have been added to encourage players to take on new challenges. The bigger the reward, the worse the trait is in the game. So, every time you choose your heirs, it will be a meaningful choice.

Relics and a Strong Will

One of the most exciting new features to Rogue Legacy 2 is the ability to pick up Relics, which are unique items that change how your run is played. As you move around the kingdom, you can change your stats, take on special challenges, and even learn completely new skills. But be careful: the more Relics you get, the more your resolve will be shaken, and if your hero dies, you will lose all of the Relics you have collected.

Made it easier to get to

With the addition of House Rules, we’ve taken accessibility to the next level. Change the damage done by contact, change the damage and health done to the whole world, and even give yourself flight for hard platform sections. You decide everything about how to play the game. We’ve also added new features like Off-shore Banking to help players who are having trouble get ahead.

A Great Story

In the sequel to Rogue Legacy, the world’s history is not only much bigger, but it also goes very deep. All the multiple NG’s in will bring you new lore. The first time you win is just the beginning. Find out how a once-thriving kingdom fell apart and the dark secrets of the people who were to blame. And connect with the people you meet along the way and build relationships with them.

Days of New Game+

After you beat the last boss in RL2, your journey has just begun. When you play the game more than once, you’ll find and learn a lot more. You have to decide how the game gets harder, such as with unique hazards in each biome or with special boss fights. The experience keeps changing, so you can almost always do it again.

Everything more

We’re also adding more of everything that people liked about the first Rogue Legacy, of course. More traits, more spells, more classes, more biomes, more enemies, more equipment, more rooms, more story. More secrets… Nothing less of anything.
