Shin Megami Tensei V – release leaked by official Japanese site

The official Japanese website for Atlus’s upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V might accidentally have revealed the game’s release date – which might be sooner than we thought!

The website was updated with information pertaining to the title’s release, including the release date of 11 November 2021. The aforementioned information has been taken down from the site, which might be an indicator that the leaked details are actually true.

Shin Megami Tensei V will have a worldwide simultaneous release, we can expect the game to be released in other regions at around the same time as well.

Atlus first announced Shin Megami Tensei V as “Shin Megami Tensei HD” with a teaser during the Nintendo Switch Presentation on January 12th, 2017, which seems like ages ago.

The game being developed with the Unreal Engine 4.

What to expect of Shin Megami Tensei V?

On October 23rd during a livestream, Atlus finally announced the game as the fifth numbered title in the series with a new teaser. Producer Kazuyuki Yamai noted in an interview with Famitsu that he wants Shin Megami Tensei V to sympathize with the troubles that the world is currently going through such as terrorism, nuclear weapons, unemployment, the uneasiness about life retirement and other troubles at home and abroad.

He wants people to look at the “characteristics of the time.”

In the same interview, it was mentioned that the Unreal Engine 4 creates a new environment to work with when creating games as it allows them to create something and immediately check it out on the game screen, it gives the creators more time to spend on coming up with ideas and trial-and-error.

Of course Unreal Engine 5 is becoming more and more of a thing, so let’s hope UE4 will still make the game look amazing compared to that.
