About Sol Cresta

SOL CRESTA, emerge from the ashes like the phoenix and reclaim your rightful place in the sun!

The return of the Neo-Classical shooting style!

Dock, separate, and come into formation! In this free-form shooting game inspired by the shooting classics Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta from the 1980s, you take control of three different warriors and try to wrest the sun away from the hands of evil.

SOL CRESTA is the first installment in PlatinumGames’ NEO-CLASSIC ARCADE series, which aims to bring the nostalgia and excitement of older video games into the 21st century by using contemporary technologies. The docking and formation methods of the classic shooting games Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta are taken and improved upon in SOL CRESTA via the use of a mechanism called “free-form docking.” The Yamato, which is the flagship of the Yamato fleet and consists of the fighters Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susano, is capable of using a variety of assaults dependent on the relative positioning of the three ships. The key to victory against the advancing forces of Mega Zofer lies in successfully docking, dividing, and reconstructing the fleet on an as-needed basis.

During their most recent assault of the solar system, humanity was on the receiving end of a terrible defeat at the hands of the Mandler Army. They were forced to withdraw all the way to Laomedeia, which is the 12th moon of Neptune since they lost the moon and were pushed away from Earth. As their last remaining shred of optimism, they came together to establish the solar recovery squad SOL CRESTA and entrusted the Yamato, a cutting-edge docking spacecraft, with the responsibility of deciding the destiny of the solar system.

– Docking in a Free-Form Format

The Yamato, which defends the good from the danger presented by Mega Zofer, is made up of three warriors. You will begin the game with a single ship, but if you find the correct object, more friendly ships will join the fray to provide you with a power-up! Docking and splitting allow you to vary the nature of your attacks, and using various formations gives you access to an incredible arsenal.

– Classic 80s-Style Excitement

The famed chiptune composer Yuzo Koshiro is responsible for the soundtrack of SOL CRESTA. The game pays tribute to the sound and aesthetics of the older Cresta series games, bringing back that arcade fever while going beyond simple nostalgia. In addition, there is a time restriction, a high score mode called Caravan, as well as online leaderboards.

– The Latest Difficulty Level From PlatinumGames

What would happen if PlatinumGames, the producers of action games such as Bayonetta, NieR:Automata, and ASTRAL CHAIN, tried their hand at making a shooting game? This is the correct response. The graphics are of the traditional style, but the uniqueness and complexity of the game’s mechanics and gameplay give a unique and in-depth shooting experience that gets better with each subsequent playthrough.
