About Sol Cresta

Dock, divide, and get ready to form! In this free-form shooting game inspired by the 80s shooting classics Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta, pilot three aircraft to reclaim the sun from the hands of evil.

SOL CRESTA is the first project in PlatinumGames’ NEO-Old ARCADE series, which aims to revive the spirit and enjoyment of classic gaming with current technology. The “free-form docking” feature in SOL CRESTA improves the docking and formation methods of classic shooting games Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta. The flagship Yamato, which is made up of the fighters Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susano, may launch a variety of strikes depending on how the three ships are positioned. The secret to fighting Mega Zofer’s invading troops is docking, separating, and reconstructing the ships as required.

Story

During the Mandler Army’s final assault of the solar system, humanity suffered a terrible loss. They were forced to withdraw all the way to Laomedeia, Neptune’s 12th moon, after losing the moon and being driven off Earth. They organized the SOL CRESTA solar recovery squad with the last of their optimism, and entrusted the destiny of the solar system to the Yamato, a cutting-edge docking ship.

– Docking in a Free-Form Environment

The Yamato is made up of three warriors who are fighting Mega Zofer’s wickedness. You’ll have to fend for yourself with just one ship at initially, but if you pick up the correct item, buddy ships will emerge for a boost! To acquire an incredible arsenal, dock and split to vary your attack characteristics and employ various forms.

– Excitement in the Style of the 1980s

Legendary chiptune composer Yuzo Koshiro composed the soundtrack for SOL CRESTA, and the game pays tribute to the sound and aesthetics of the older Cresta series titles, bringing back that arcade fever while going beyond simple nostalgia. There’s also a time restriction, Caravan Mode for high scores, and internet leaderboards.

– The New PlatinumGames Challenge

What if PlatinumGames, the creators of such enjoyable and action-packed games as Bayonetta, NieR:Automata, and ASTRAL CHAIN, tried their hand at shooting? This is the solution. The graphics are vintage, but the innovation and complexity of the mechanics and gameplay provide a novel and profound shooting experience that gets better with each playthrough.
