The month of July is a festive one for Rocket League. On 5 July the game already exists for 3 years. The predecessor of what we now know as Rocket League; ‘Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars’ is even ten years old!
If enough reason for a party. This party is celebrated through a special event for Rocket League.
Birthday event
The birthday event will start on July 9 and last two weeks. If you have been playing Rocket League for a long time, this event will feel a bit different than you are used to.
Psyonix, the makers of the game, have a number of new features in store. For beginners there is a new game mode. In this mode you play three against three in which you play in an arena that still originates from the original game.
Another innovation is the reward that you get after playing matches. In the previous event, you received a certain currency related to the event. With that you could buy things.
There were also special boxes at each event that provided special rewards. You could buy these boxes or you sometimes got them after a game. If you play matches during this event you will receive balloons. You can buy special “golden eggs” from these balloons. The advantage of these eggs is that they do not need a key to be opened. Have you collected enough balloons for an egg so you can immediately see what’s in it!
In total there are sixty different items hidden in the golden eggs. All these items will make your car a little more beautiful and special. Note that the balloons can be redeemed until 19 July (the end of the event). So there is no run-out period of a week that normally occurs at Rocket League events.
