Splatoon 3 – Cloud saves for offline play only

Splatoon 3 seems to enable cloud saves, although the is more complicated than just that.

After seeing the game’s modified page on Nintendo’s North American website, fans began speculating the likelihood of cloud saves. Aside from online play, the listing claims unequivocally that cloud saves are enabled for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

Cloud saves or not?

A listing for Splatoon 3 on the Switch eShop confirms the rumor concerning cloud saves, however it comes with a caveat. The capability seems to be restricted to saving data for offline play. In other words, components like as the single-player narrative mode Return of the Mammalians should have a backup, but not online progress.

You may remember that Splatoon 2 did not allow cloud saves at all. While it seems like Splatoon 3 will have some capability in that area, Nintendo does not appear to want to go all the way. The corporation may be worried about online gamers cheating and misusing cloud saves.

Prior to posting this piece, we attempted to contact Nintendo of America in the hopes of gaining clarity. Unfortunately, when it comes to Splatoon 3, the firm isn’t revealing anything regarding cloud saves. “We have nothing to announce on this matter,” Nintendo of America simply said.

No one can truly explain what is going on right now since Nintendo isn’t going on the record. Perhaps we’ll receive a definitive explanation closer to launch — the game is still a few months away, with a release date of September 9, 2022.

About Splatoon 3

In the upcoming Splatoon game, ink up the Splatlands!

Enter the Splatlands, a scorching desert home to battle-hardened Inklings and Octolings. The adrenaline-fueled core of this dusty wasteland lies Splatsville, the city of disorder.

Turf War* remains supreme even in this harsh setting, as conflicts flare in new levels found in the surrounding wilds, such as the breathtaking Scorch Gorge.

A new bow-shaped weapon to sling ink and new special weapons, such as the scuttling Crab Tank, allow these combatants evade assaults and cover more territory.
