Third-party docks beware

Third-party docks beware

Last week, Nintendo released a firmware update 5.0.0 for the Nintendo Switch. The update did not seem to contain any major changes at first glance. Now, something essential has changed!

Soon after the release of the update there appeared on various forums that it could bricken the Nintendo Switch. After comparing all these notifications it seems to be due to the use of third-party docks.

For example, we have heard reports from Nyko docks, C-Force and Bigben, but it could involve more parties.

Bricking of Nintendo Switch

Breaking a system means that it does not work anymore. Often this is also irreversible, you can not just turn it back yourself. Nintendo will have to come up with a solution for this.

To date, Nintendo has not yet responded to the problem. Whether a new update is being worked behind the scenes that can prevent the bricking is not yet known. If you often use a third-party dock, it is wise to wait with the update.

Have you already performed the update?

Then it is wiser not to use your third-party dock (s) temporarily. As soon as Nintendo has responded to the problem or more is known about a possible solution, we will announce this as soon as possible.
