Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 could have happened

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 could have happened

Following the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, fans anticipated that 3 and 4 would be treated similarly. It turns out that this was previously the idea, but it didn’t work out.

This information was disclosed by Tony Hawk himself during a live broadcast with Twitch user andyTHPS. Hawk said that 3 and 4 were next in line for the remaster process, but this changed when Vicarious Visions was acquired by Blizzard. When the two companies joined, Activision reportedly sought for a another developer to take on the project, but ultimately didn’t trust anyone else to do so.

Tony Hawk noted

That was the idea all the way up to the publication date of this – we were going 3 and 4.” Then Vicarious was acquired, and they were seeking for new developers, and it was all over.

The fact was that they were looking for someone to do 3 and 4, but they didn’t really trust anybody who had done Vicarious, so they accepted submissions from other studios. ‘For example, what would you do with the THPS title?’ And nothing they heard pleased them. That was the end of it.

I wish there was a way to resurrect it. Who knows, really? Perhaps after the dust settles, we’ll figure it out. You just never know.

Tony Hawk on Nintendo Switch

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 arrived on Nintendo Switch less than a year after its original release. If we saw something similar with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, it stands to reason that Nintendo’s system would have received this eventually as well.

Now that Activision Blizzard is a part of Microsoft, maybe the notion will be reconsidered in the future.
