Yars: Recharged launch trailer

Yars: Recharged has a launch trailer that was made by Atari, Adamvision Studios, and SneakyBox. The game is now available on Nintendo Switch. It adds arcade shoot-em-up and bullet hell chaos to the classic’s gameplay.

A brave attack on the enemy’s homeworld, which is protected by mechanical hives with deadly cannons and swarms of missiles. Shoot from a distance when you can get out of the way of the enemy’s fire, and then make daring attacks to chip away at the enemy’s defenses. If you destroy enough of the enemy’s shields, you can get enough energy to power up your powerful Zorlon cannon, which fires golden energy blasts into the enemy hive.

About Yars: Recharged

Yars: Recharged is the latest game from the creators of the Atari Recharged series, Adamvision Studios and SneakyBox. It is a remake of the classic game with elements of arcade, shoot-em-up, and bullet hell. Yars: Recharged requires players to pay close attention to visual and audible clues that danger is coming and to master the rhythm of each boss as they move through increasingly complex enemy defenses, all to an epic soundtrack by Megan McDuffee.

The new game is Atari’s return to the Yars world, which is based on the classic book Yars’ Revenge by Howard Scott Warshaw. It came out in 1982.

Features

  • Boss rush of 30 enemies in Arcade mode. This mode is not endless, but it is very hard to get to the end. You die after three hits, but don’t worry—your hit count starts over when you move on to the next fight.
  • There are 30 different bosses, and you only have one life to beat each one. Like Gravitar: Recharged, mission mode has a single global leaderboard, so you’ll need to be on your game. Bosses are hard to beat, so you either have to go straight for them with a lot of bullets or start with the smaller Minor Cores and work your way up to the boss.
  • Power-Ups: Minor Cores will drop power-ups when attached. You can shoot in all directions at once, quickly, with explosions, or with a railgun, depending on what kind of core dropped the power-up.
  • Co-op: Yars: Recharged lets you and a friend play together locally in both arcade mode and mission mode, which is a big change from the original and a lot of fun.
