Two installments in the Ys series—one a brand-new game and the other a remaster—have been unveiled by the gifted RPG creators and fans at Falcom. The 35th anniversary of the venerable series will be celebrated in 2023, and the new game, Ys X: Nordics, will debut at the same time.
Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, an HD remake of Ys: The Oath in Felghana for the Nintendo Switch, has also been revealed by Falcom. It will release in 2023, the same year as Ys X: Nordics. The game will be available to Japanese Switch users in the spring of 2023.
About Ys X: Nordics
The action role-playing game Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, which debuted on the PlayStation 4 in 2019 to rave reviews from gamers both in Japan and abroad, has been available for four years. The most recent game in the Ys series, Ys X: Nordics, will debut in 2023 across a variety of platforms in honor of the 35th anniversary of the franchise.
The location is Obelia Bay, a northern sea filled with many islands of different sizes. Young explorer Adol Christin meets a marine race known as “Normans” in this new country after finishing his explorations in the Ancient Kingdom of Ys. They, who? Who are the “Griegers,” the eternal undead who prey on humans?
Up to Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, the fighting system was mostly unchanged. The new “Cross Action” feature enables the player to choose between two fighting styles depending on the circumstance. The user controls one character in the quick “Solo Mode” with the assistance of automated attacks and backup from their companion. The user may concurrently command a sequence of actions for both characters in “Combination Mode” to engage powerful opponents in back-and-forth battle.
Additionally, for the first time in the series, you may pilot a ship in Ys X: Nordics. This new element adds to the “the excitement of adventure” that the series is renowned for as you navigate enormous seas utilizing sea charts and participate in naval combat with adversary ships. The unique ability “Mana Action,” which considerably increases the degree of freedom on fields and in dungeons, is one of the other new systems.

A “deepened” action RPG… Nintendo Switch is getting Ys: The Oath in Felghana’s final version soon! Ys: The Oath in Felghana, a 2010 PSP release that was widely hailed as a masterpiece in the Ys action RPG series. With the inclusion of new features, this high-definition remastered edition greatly enhances the game.
Voiceovers for protagonist Adol Christin, who will be voiced by Yuki Kaji, have also been added to the game’s more than 30 spoken events. Players will be able to experience an even more dramatic narrative when Banjou Ginga narrates it.
Every character that appears in the narrative has “Refine Versions” of their artwork made just for this remastered version. You may choose between “Refine” and “Classic” throughout the game based on your preferences thanks to the inclusion of the “Classic Versions” that were utilized in the PSP and PC versions.
