eShop related?

Since both the Wii U and the 3DS have received updates, it’s likely that what’s going on here has something to do with the fact that the eShops for both devices will soon close. In March 2023, you won’t be able to buy or redeem codes anymore, but you’ll still be able to download software you’ve already bought.

Users on Wii U and 3DS can’t add money to their accounts with eShop cards. But users who link their Nintendo Network ID wallet (used with the Wii U and the 3DS family of systems) with their Nintendo Account wallet (used with the Switch family of systems) can use the shared balance to buy content on any of these systems until late March 2023.
