Next Fire Emblem project from Intelligent Systems almost complete

It’s been three plusyears since the latest Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, was launched on Nintendo Switch, and fans have been asking when the next game in the series would be released. In the most recent Nintendo Direct, a sequel to the Koei Tecmo-developed spin-off Fire Emblem Warriors was revealed, but noted leaker and industry insider Emily Rogers claims that Nintendo may be preparing to release, or at the very least promote, even more Fire Emblem content in 2022.

More Fire Emblem

Emily has revealed that the next unknown Fire Emblem has been in production at Intelligent Systems for almost three years, with the help of a “support studio,” and that the game is “nearly done.” She thinks that a release in October 2022 is feasible, but she is unclear whether Nintendo would push it back to early 2023 owing to the fact that Nintendo’s Fall timetable for 2022 already includes Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and, presumably, Bayonetta 3.

More speculation by Emily Rogers

In terms of her own speculation, she feels Bayonetta 3 may not be enough to carry a month on its own, at least in terms of sales expectations, and that Nintendo would be wise to combine it with a game like Fire Emblem or maybe the anticipated Metroid Prime HD.

She also mentions that Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and Fire Emblem Warriors were both released in 2017, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see two different Fire Emblem games released in the same year, especially since Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes has already been announced for June 24th, 2022.

Rumors have been circulating since last year that a remake of a classic Fire Emblem game is in the works, with insider/leaker Zippo stating that production was nearly complete in July, so we’ll have to wait and see whether Emily is talking to the same title.
