Kadokawa published the third official trailer for Root Film in Japan.

Root Letter, stylized as √Letter, is one of the glory games from the game company Kadokawa, and is received well in Japan and turned into a huge multi-media franchise. It was released in 2016 for the PlayStation Vita and following the live-action remake version entitled Root Letter: Last Answer.

About Root Film

Now, after the well-received visual novel game was released, Kadokawa Games will bring the follow-up game to the Root franchise entitled Root Film for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

This mystery adventure game is coming on April 23 in Japan. So, are you ready for this thrilling murder story to arrive on your favorite consoles? For the Western release, the UK-based game publisher PQube will release it sometime this 2019. So, let’s wait for the official announcements!

This game brings you to the Shimane prefecture wherein this is also the location of the Root Letter game and discover you are in the deep thrilling murder story. Root Film is all about a TV series entitled Shimane Mystery Drama Project.

This TV series was canceled for an unknown reason 10 years ago. Now, they want to bring back the project with the three teams with the director and an actress booked as a part of the cast. The main protagonist named Rintaro Yagumo, a 23-year old man doesn’t know his excitement turns into terrors as a shocking crime happened in their location scouting process. Follow him and the rest of the characters of Root Film to find the truth behind this murder incident.

Root Film is written by Hifumi Kouno and the characters are designed by Taro Mino. Along with Rintaro Yagumo, there’s also another protagonist along named Riho.

FEATURES

  • ​Synesthesia Mode – During the conversation, the protagonist will see important words that should not be forgotten. The acquired keywords can be used as part of your hand in “Max Mode”
  • A completely renewed system and much better Max Mode from Root Letter. It is a debate between the protagonist and other characters in the game, which occurs in the resolution chapters you switch over to as you progress through the game
  • Under the supervision of Hifumi Kouno, the “User Interface” and “Text Design” themed around film work become more stylish compared to Root Letter
