About Yars: Recharged

Yars was the best-selling original Atari game for the Atari 2600. It was based on Howard Scott Warshaw’s cult classic Yars’ Revenge. It is said that the new Recharged title “extends the legacy of this iconic franchise and gives fans a chance to experience an expanded, modern take on the ideas introduced by the original.”

Yars: Recharged puts players in the middle of a daring attack on the enemy’s homeworld, which is protected by mechanical hives with deadly cannons that pulse and swirling missiles that shoot out of them. Find safe spots among the incoming fire, and then make daring attacks to break through the enemy’s defenses.

By destroying enemy shields, you can get enough energy to power up the hugely destructive Zorlon cannon, which fires searing blasts of cosmic energy that destroy enemies. Yars: Recharged forces players to pay close attention to visual and audible clues that danger is coming and to master the smooth controls for flying as the levels get harder.

Features

Boss Rush: Enemies will come at you almost nonstop. You die after three hits, but don’t worry! When you move on to the next round, the hit count starts over.

Mission Mayhem: The mission mode has 30 different bosses that are all hard to beat with only one life. Take bosses on head-on with a barrage of bullets, or try a different strategy and start with the smaller, Minor Cores.

Juiced-Up Power-Ups: When you destroy a Minor Core, it will drop a Power-Up. The type of the power-up depends on the type of the core that dropped it. You can shoot in all directions at once, use rapid-fire, blast with explosive shots, or fire a railgun.

Co-op with a Co-Pilot: The arcade mode and mission mode both have local co-op, so you can team up with a friend and take on the waves of enemy fighters.
