PrFILE2 exFAT used on Nintendo Switch Lite

Esol Co Ltd has put out a press release in Japan regarding the Nintendo Switch Lite.

Esol Co Ltd announced that the Nintendo Switch Lite makes use of the PrFILE2 exFAT file system. The PrFILE2 exFAT file system allows the Nintendo Switch Lite to quickly read and write to the internal memory and external memory cards.

What is PrFILE2 exFAT?

PrFILE2 is a FAT file system for embedded systems, designed to enable flexible and fast support for application-specific customization requests. Included are many functions required for today’s digital home appliances. 

PrFILE2 inherits all the features of File System . It is compatible with File System on the API level, and File System drivers are also very easy to port.  

Supports FAT12/16/32, VFAT (long file names)

PrFILE2 is a FAT file system used in MS-DOS/Windows PCs. This system supports FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, and VFAT (long file names). Building a system by embedding PrFILE2 makes it easy to exchange data between devices and PCs.

Stock win?

If you were wondering why would Esol Co Ltd put out a press release for this… that’s because companies that had some involvement in Nintendo hardware use this as a trick to try increasing their stock prices. Unfortunately for Esol, the stock was down by 0.14% when the Tokyo stock exchange closed.
