Focus Home Interactive, een toonaangevende Europese uitgever en ontwikkelaar van videogames, kondigt de ondertekening aan van een contract voor de verwerving van 77,5% van het aandelenkapitaal van Dotemu, een wereldleider in retro-gaming gevestigd in Parijs.
Dotemu is zowel een game-ontwikkelaar als een uitgever, die bekend staat om het feit dat hij meer dan vijftig retro-games op consoles, pc en mobiele telefoons heeft uitgebracht.

Samengesteld uit een getalenteerd en gepassioneerd team van ongeveer dertig mensen, heeft Dotemu al haar expertise bewezen in het ontdekken en bijwerken van oude cultlicenties om ze om te zetten in kritische en commerciële successen op mondiaal niveau. Gepositioneerd in een zeer aantrekkelijke markt, is Dotemu een snelgroeiend bedrijf met een omzet van € 14,6 miljoen en een zeer ambitieus groeiplan voor de komende jaren.
Dotemu is een expert op dit gebied geworden en heeft al legendarische franchises ontwikkeld en opnieuw uitgebracht, zoals Final Fantasy, Another World, Double Dragon en, meest recentelijk Street of Rage, dat wereldwijd door meer dan 2,5 miljoen mensen is gespeeld. Dotemu ontwikkelt ook in-house games via haar ontwikkelteam, met titels als Ys Origin, Heroes of Might en Magic III HD en het langverwachte Windjammers 2.

Focus Home Interactive breidt zijn aanbod en redactionele lijn uit door de overname van Dotemu, dat unieke titels met een sterk commercieel potentieel zal blijven publiceren en produceren, aangedreven door cultvideogame- en popcultuurlicenties zoals Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles en Metal Slug Tactics, evenals andere kwaliteitstitels die in de komende maanden worden aangekondigd.
Bovenal zal Dotemu profiteren van de expertise van Focus Home Interactive op het gebied van AA-games, waardoor het nog ambitieuzere projecten kan ontwikkelen.
Bovendien bouwt Focus Home Interactive met deze deal zijn technische capaciteiten op voor de ontwikkeling van onafhankelijke games. De teams van Dotemu zullen zo nog meer ambitie kunnen geven aan het jonge onafhankelijke uitgeverijlabel The Arcade Crew.
Na succesvolle producties zoals The Last Spell of Dark Devotion, bereidt The Arcade Crew vele andere ambitieuze producties voor, zoals Young Souls en andere kwaliteitstitels die in de komende maanden zullen worden aangekondigd.
